Wall Hangings
I make a wide variety of wall hangings. I'm currently exploring the blending of needlefelting with traditional felting techniques. I'm particularly intrigued with blending two and three dimensional work in landscapes and faces.

This needle felted face is designed to sit high on a wall in order to look down and across a room. The forehead tilts out while the chin rests against the wall. It is comprised of merino wool. The irises are of hand-dyed Romney, and the hair is Border Leicester fleece. It measures 14x9" and is 10" deep.

This needle felted face lies flat against the wall. The skin is of Romney wool; the eyes of Romney and a Gottland style blend. The hair is made of locks from an unidentified breed. It measures 15x13". | |

These panels began as an embellishment project. The merino wool is needle felted directly on to black wool cloth which has then been quilted on to cotton panels.
The work takes its titles from a Robert Frost poem celebrating the annual return of mid Autumn's melancholy--the somber beauty of the forest before the dazzling light of snow arrives. The poem is the framed centerpiece in this installation. These pieces can be sold separately, or together. Before the Coming of the Snow: 29x26"

The night sky for this piece is a traditional wet felt from merino wool. The Romney wool tree and moon were needlefelted on, and then the entire piece was fulled using more water and lots of friction. It measure 21x19". SOLD |
