| Fiber Designs by Anna Moberly | |||||||
My background is not one that clearly leads to the fiber arts. I have an A.B. in English from Bryn Mawr College, and earned my teaching certification in 1995. I have loved reading and writing for as long as I can remember and enjoy sharing that passion with students. I was lucky to discover needlefelting through classes at our local Holcomb Farm. While my children went to their art classes, I sat with a group of moms and learned some basic techniques from MaryLynne Boisvert. As my first sheep took shape and then personality beneath my fingers, I was hooked. For me, the creation of these pieces is born from the same energy that held me captive when I was small enough to fit beneath the coffee table arranging my glass and plastic figurines into stories to be acted out. That energy has grown in to stories and poems, sought outlets through gardening and quilting, and currently blossoms through these designs. I continue to teach as a parent educator for my own children, a freelance educator of reading and writing, and facilitator of needle-felting workshops. And I continue to be fed by the stories I read and hear, the beauty of the world around me, and the inspiring work I have been discovering among other felters around the world.
